FLEX MATH 7/8
- Students will be enrolled in the FLEX program in one of three ways:
- Full time enrolment TYPE 1- To work on individual modules to develop specific math concepts. They will work only out of the FLEX classroom for Math.
- Part time enrolment TYPE 2- Where the individual will spend some time in the main stream classroom and some time in the FLEX room. This model will follow the principle of identification of missing skills, pre teaching units in the FLEX room, then students return to the mainstream class to apply knowledge. This type of program will mean the student is in the FLEX room to learn a unit and then back to the classroom to reinforce and generalize their skills.
- Part time enrolment TYPE 3 - Where the individual spends most of their time in the mainstream classroom but can come to the FLEX room when they need more of a 1-1 explanation to fully understand the concept. In this model, the students will only come to the FLEX room when they need the extra explanation and will return quickly to their other class.
- Students will be working in individual modules to develop specific math concepts.
- Students' will have an individual program plan to show growth in math.
- Student's academic grades will be reported in Powerschool.
Math 9-3
This is a modified math program that is designed to promote math outcomes that the student will use to be successful in the Math 10-3 stream in high school. All units the individual will be working through are designed to allow the use of a calculator or multiplication table, self paced modules, infused technology (IXL and videos), and include small group, personalized, instruction to support their specific learning needs.
